Making feather bouquets

Step 1

Start by making feather bouquets. For a pair of earrings, you will need 12 turquoise feather bouquets and 6 pink feather bouquets.

Choose 3 feathers and layer them so as for their ends to be even. The turquoise feathers must measure from 6.5 to 7 cm and the pink feathers must measure from 7.5 to 8 cm. Starting from the ends, measure and cut any excess feather by keeping the ends.

Step 2
Keep all three feathers together and insert them in a “U” connector. Put a drop of glue on the feathers then close the connector using chain nose pliers. Without letting the feathers go, fold one side then the other, one towards the other.

Repeat this step until you are done making all the feather bouquets.

Making feather pendants

Step 3

Measure and cut a 2 cm section of rolo chain. Attach 3 feather bouquets to the chain using 4 mm jump rings. Place the bouquets on the chain as illustrated, starting from the extremity then leaving 2 empty links between each bouquet. At the other extremity of the chain, place another 4 mm jump ring.

Repeat this step to get a total of 6 feather pendants, 4 turquoise colored and 2 pink colored ones.

Tip :Open and close the jump rings using 2 chain nose pliers.

Making rhinestone chain pendants

Step 4
Measure and cut a section of 5.5 cm of rhinestone chain. Insert the link positioned at the end of the chain in the rhinestone chain connector. Using chain nose pliers, slowly fold the claws of the connector on the stone, one after the other. Do the same 3 other times to obtain 4 rhinestone chain pendants.

Step 5
In the loops of each connector, insert a 4 mm jump ring.

Assembly and stringing

Step 6
Using memory wire cutters, cut a bit more rounds of memory wire. Using the round nose pliers, make a loop at one of the extremities. It is important that this loop be horizontally positioned so it does not show when looking at the front of the earrings.

Step 7
String the beads as illustrated by inserting feather pendants and rhinestone chain pendants. The sequence will be symmetrical and centered on the pink feather pendant.

Step 8
You now need to close the memory wire ring. At the point where the ring closes on itself, fold it at a 90-degree angle towards the top of the earring using chain nose pliers. Cut any excess string by keeping only 6 to 8 mm of wire.

Step 9
Insert this 6 to 8 mm part of wire in the loop of the other end. Using round nose pliers, make another loop, as illustrated.

Step 10
Open the loop of the earring hook and slip it in the loop of the memory wire ring.

Step 11
Repeat steps 6 to 10 to make the second earring. Don’t forget to reverse the sequence of beads in order for the two earrings to be symmetrical.
