3-laps bracelet made from leather cord, silk-like thread and hematite beads

  • Material

  • 125 cm of leather cord, black
  • 3 m of silk-like string 1 m, beige
  • 86, 6 mm round gemstones with big holes, hematite
  • Tools

  • Scissors
  • Transparent liquid glue

How-to steps

Step 1
Fold the leather cord on itself in 2 parts of equal length.

TIP
To help during the making of this bracelet, we suggest that you secure using a strand of string, the fold of the leather cord to a support, such as a nail fixed to a table or a chair’s bar.

Step 2
Position the silk-like string under the leather cord, at about 1.5 cm of the tip of the fold, as illustrated. Center the string to get the same length on each side of the cord.

Step 3
Wrap once the two pieces of string by making them cross over around the leather cords. This will create a loop that will serve as a clasp.

Step 4
Make a double knot with both of the pieces of string and add a drop of liquid glue to keep it in place.

Note:If you do not have transparent liquid glue, use some transparent nail polish.

Step 5
Bring the strings to the cords center by passing them over each outward side, as illustrated.

Step 6
Cross the strings in a hematite bead then, make it exit by passing it over the cords. The left cord will become the right one and vice versa.

TIP
If the extremity of the cord tends to fray, dip it in the transparent liquid glue to stabilize the strands and strengthen the cord. For a thinner end, cut the extremity at an angle with cutter pliers.

Step 7
Once more, pass the string under, towards the center of the cords. Cross them in a second hematite bead then, make them exit from the top. Take care to put the second bead near the first.

Step 8
Continue in this manner by repeating step 7 until you have strung all the hematite beads. Make sure to keep an extra bead for the final steps.

Determine the length of your bracelet by measuring it on your wrist. You might not need all the hematite beads.

Finition

Step 9
Cross the leather cord pieces under the last strung bead.

Step 10
Wrap a couple of times both pieces of string, as illustrated, to keep the cords’ crossing in place. Then, make a stop knot.

Step 11
Add some transparent liquid glue where the cords intersect as well as on the knot. Then, cut the extremity of the cord without cutting the pieces of string. .

Step 12
String a hematite bead on the pieces of string then make a stop knot.

Step 13
Add a drop of transparent liquid glue on the knot then cut any excess string.
